Religion Presentation Assignment

You will be creating a presentation on one of the main religions of the world.  This project will be done in groups of three or four, but you will each receive an individual grade.  I will assign the groups and the religions.

Requirements

Ø      Your group must cover all the topics under your religion on the Outline of World Religions.

Ø      You must describe all the images in your group's section of the PowerPoint presentation.

Ø      Each person should talk for 2 - 4 minutes.

Ø      You may use notes, but you should have most of your information memorized so you are not reading off your paper.

Grading

_____/10        Talk clearly and loudly.  DO NOT READ from a paper.  Know your information so that you can explain it in your own words.

_____/15        Understand and describe, in your own words, each of the topics on the Outline of World Religions.  Write at least 4 important words on the white-board or on poster paper, and refer to these words while you present.  (These will help guide students’ note-taking.)

_____/5          Understand and describe all the images in your part of the PowerPoint show.

______5          During your presentation, I will ask one student in the group the following questions.  Where and when did this religion originate?  In what areas of the world is it practiced today?  Every member of the group will be graded on that one student's response.

_____/35   TOTAL

Research

You will be provided with materials for research in class, but you must take initiative to ensure that you obtain the information you need.  A good place to find information about the religions on you own is by using the links on Mr. McGlashan’s World Cultures web page at:

The presentation should be done and ready on ___________________.
